On Jean-Philippe Mateta's form: "It's him, it's JP. The first goal was after a set play and he is where he has to be as a number nine. He makes so many runs where he doesn't get the ball. We demand and encourage him. Everything he is doing, he is doing it and of course we are delighted with his form."

On any further transfers: "One more day to go and let's see what happens but I think we will have at least one more g. We need one. Not to talk about where it will be but I think everyone can imagine. I think this g will happen. Maybe we are also looking for a centre-back. It's not a must but I'm pretty confident that there will be one g."

"We scored from a set-play but had two or three big chances in the first half and we had to keep the belief. We knew there would be moments where we had to survive because every team has this at Old Trafford. Big credit to the team and the players today."

On Jean-Philippe Mateta: "We don't always talk because he knows what we demand of him. With his two goals today, he is amazing in the box.

He has the feeling that a number nine must have in the box. He makes so many runs where he doesn't get the ball. You need to suffer as a striker because you make so many runs where you don't get the ball. He gets the reward and it decides the game for us."

"We're just enjoying this moment, a big win. I will enjoy this moment, even if it is a long journey [Crystal Palace's flight back to London has been cancelled so they have to get the coach instead]."

Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank on goalkeeper Hakon Valdimarsson making his first Premier League start: "He was good with his hands, especially.

Adding on the injury to Mark Flekken: "He has a side strain but we have two weeks until our next game."

Brentford boss Thomas Frank told BBC Sport: "We did a lot of things right. We created a lot of good situations, 30-something crosses and a lot of shots. But not enough big chances.

"Some of the best defending they [Spurs] have done in the season. Sometimes one goal decides it a little bit. They scored on a set-piece. On the flip side, we don't score any of our set-pieces. If we'd got in front it might have been a different game.

"The big one is Wissa's [chance].

"I'm not expecting anyone in or out [on deadline day]."

Brentford manager Thomas Frank: "For me, I also said that we when we didn't get an away win it was about getting good performances. I don't think there is too much to fix as we should have got at least a draw today. We created enough to get at least an equaliser. When we faced Liverpool, we should have got at least a draw, did well against Man City and Arsenal."

A lot of things didn't drop for us but we created a lot, produced more than 30 crosses, 20 shots but we didn't create enough big chances, we had a lot of half-chances. It is down to very good defending, maybe the best defending of their box all season, they were very good at defending our transitions, very clear, very good. In a tight game-ish, we need to win the set-piece and we didn't."

Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "It was hard on us, the result. We improved some things from the last games.

"We improved the better connections, we had more possession - the players created situations, but we suffered two goals that we can avoid.

"Tomorrow we have to prepare for the next game. The idea was not to leave Rasmus [Hojlund] and Joshua [Zirkzee] on the bench. It was to use the characteristics of Kobbie Mainoo to improve the team."

On Marcus Rashford's future: "The focus is to talk about this game and prepare for the next one - we will see when the window is closed."

No player has scored more Premier League goals in 2025 than Jean-Philippe Mateta who has six.

That puts the Crystal Palace striker level with Chris Wood and Phil Foden.

And thanks to his double today at Old Trafford, the Frenchman has netted 26 goals since the start of last season.

Rick: All this blah about Amorim and his system - Glasner put his new system in at Palace last year, *after* the transfer window and with a squad a fraction the value of Utd's, with relatively quick success. And seven points from nine vs Utd, with no goals conceded.

Tottenham defender Archie Gray speaking to Premier League Productions: "Obviously, it's a massive win. Off the back of another good win before. To break that run, it was difficult, we were in a difficult time. We've still got loads of games to prove that we can carry this winning form on, so it's important.

"At times this season, just for five minutes we've lost concentration. As soon as that goal went in we knew we can't make the same mistakes. Once we got to half-time we thought we had to keep disciplined for the second half. They play man-to-man, they left people open at the back and we knew we could get a second goal as well.

"It's a credit to Ben [Davies] and Djed [Spence] and Pedro [Porro] as well. To be fair Ben was shouting at me the whole game and we were shouting at each other the whole game, so that was really good to have him next to me. Like I said, it was a really good clean sheet and hopefully we can keep it going."

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou: “Great to get Kevin [Danso] in. We desperately need a defender and getting him is great, he is a great fit for us.

"He has had a strong career but he wants to kick on. He is strong, quick, dynamic and wants to play on the ball. He is determined to kick on and make an impact.”

We controlled the transitions quite well for Crystal Palace. We suffered two goals that we can avoid and the injury on Lisandro Martinez was tough for the team."

On Lisandro Martinez: "We are going to see in the next days but I think it is a serious situation. He is not only a great player but a strong character in the dressing room. He felt it and when you are a player, you know when it is something serious. We are here to help him in this difficult moment like he has helped us."

On remaining positive: "It's normal for the fans to feel negative, it is a hard season for them but football can change in certain moments. I will prepare the next game and move forward. Better things will come."

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou: "It is a difficult place to come and win at.

"It’s also a difficult place to win with the way they attack and set up; you have to defend your box. You’re just going to have to do that.

"I thought the lads handled that awfully well and we knew it was going to be key for us and the lads were brilliant and we felt we had the quality of football to hurt them the other way. Credit to the boys, they were brilliant."

We suffered two goals that we can avoid, which is really disappointing today. We take some things from the performance but not the result. It is a hard season at this moment, the players try different things to improve. We need to move forward. We had more possession, more connections, we created chances but we couldn't score and that was the difference today."

On whether there is extra pressure playing at home: "I didn't feel that but it is difficult to play here because we want to please our fans. This season is going to be like that, I said it since the first day."

On the January transfer window: "That is with a lot of people in the club, I focus on the next game."

"We missed him the last couple of games but that's the beauty of where we're at at the moment. We're slowly getting players back, improving us and helping us and I think that's giving energy to the group. He was great today, [Bryan] Mbuemo is a handful for any full-back and he handled him really well."
