Started at: 19:54 BST on Fri 13 June

Flooding is possible - be prepared

Up to 70mm of rain is forecast Friday evening. Models suggest this rain could occur over Polegate, but there is low confidence in locations and amounts. If as much rain falls as predicted, flooding could be possible. From 22:00 13/06/2025 flooding could possibly affect gardens of Brook Street and Gosford Way and the Gosford Way Allotments. Riverside properties at Millstream Gardens, The Millrace, Clement Lane, Brightling Road and Manor Way could also be affected by flooding. Only a small amount of rain is forecast Saturday. The river should begin to fall by 04:00 14/06/2025, and should return to normal from 06:00 14/06/2025. Small, flashier rivers and streams may respond to heavy rainfall as a result of localised thunderstorms ing through the area. This message has been issued pre-emptively ahead of localised thunderstorms this evening, 13/06/25 and overnight into tomorrow morning, 14/06/25. Given the unpredictable nature of thunderstorms, there is low confidence in the locations and impacts of rainfall at this point. Areas most at risk are low lying agricultural land, roads and footpaths close to small rivers and streams. Water levels could rise rapidly and potentially generate deep, fast flows.
We are closely monitoring the situation.
Please plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and avoid with flood water.
