After Birmingham were held to a 1-1 draw at Mansfield at lunchtime, all eyes were on Wrexham to see if they could close the gap.

Well, until 97 minutes in at the Valley they were doing just that, only for the Addicks to convert a penalty which saw the Red Dragons slide to third in the table.

They are now behind Wycombe, who made light work of Leyton Orient at home, while Huddersfield overcame Exeter 2-0 in another big game to move into the top five above resurgent Reading, 1-0 winners over 10-man Bristol Rovers earlier on.

Barnsley won on the road at lowly Shrewsbury to go 7th while Lincoln's eye-catching win over Stockport has them well-placed in 8th.

A league win continues to avoid Burton's grasp and worse yet, they are starting to get left behind at the wrong end of the table.

The Brewers have half the points of 23rd place Shrewsbury, who will be feeling sorry for themselves having fallen to a third straight defeat.

Crawley Town will share their sentiments having been subject to a 3-0 defeat against Northampton Town, who have raised themselves into 17th.

But Cambridge Town will be enjoying the sunshine - a third win in a row sees them lift out of the bottom two and into 21st. Still a precarious position but better than a tumble down due to a losing streak, as is the case for Blackpool and Wigan Athletic.

Stevenage and Bristol Rovers also find themselves in the bottom 10 following their respective defeats.

Morecambe lost 5-2 and Carlisle lost at home to a Cheltenham side who have taken seven points from their last three games.

Swindon's dramatic point against Gillingham moves them four points clear but Colchester are six games without a win and their lunchtime defeat by Salford won't inspire much optimism.

The Port Vale juggernaut rolls on - five wins on the bounce has given them a four-point cushion now as they beat AFC Wimbledon 3-2, although they were 3-0 up at one point.

Top scorers Walsall hang on to second spot but drew 0-0 at Accrington while wins for Notts County and Doncaster keep them well in touch.

Chesterfield's 5-2 lunchtime thrashing of Morecambe gets them into the top seven and look at MK Dons, 3-1 winners at Grimsby today and quietly moving into contention.

A week ago they hadn't won, now they have won three and this was the least convincing of the lot, but perhaps the most important of them all.

Cambridge United started well but ran out of steam in the second half. However, Burton Albion grew increasingly into this game.

It was petering out until the 85th minute, when Danny Andrew powerfully took his free kick into the danger area.

Max Crocombe got a hand to hit, but the most unlikely goal scorer of all, Jordan Cousins was there to tap it home.

That was all - but that was enough for the U's .

Drama at the Toughsheet where Bolton Wanderers claimed a 1-0 win in the ninth minute of added time after Peterborough conceded a late penalty.

The Ian Holloway era in charge of Swindon Town got underway in dramatic fashion at the County Ground.

Supposedly watching on before taking charge on Monday, Holloway saw his new side go down to 10 men inside the opening nine minutes and then fall behind to Gillingham.

He went down to the touchline to try to turn it around and was also involved in the half-time team talk before Harry Smith snatched a late, late equaliser.

Gillingham end a five-match losing streak but it won't feel like that.

It's five wins on the bounce for the leaders, Port Vale but they were run close in the end by AFC Wimbledon. Darren Moore's side went 3-0 up with Jayden Stockley getting their third but having to hold on to a 3-2 victory.

Walsll stay second but were held 0-0 at Accrington Stanley while Alassana Jatta's goal for Notts County moves them up to third place with a 1-0 win over Harrogate.

Crewe go fifth after coming from 1-0 down to beat Tranmere 3-1 and MK Dons did the same to also win 3-1 at Grimsby with Scott Hogan on the scoresheet.

Michael Cheek scored a late equaliser for Bromley to earn a 1-1 draw with Barrow.

Newport County and Fleetwood Town played out a goalless draw while Carlisle's misery continues - still in the relegation zone after a 1-0 home defeat by improving Cheltenham.

Andy Cannon thought he had come off the bench to stroke the winner for Wrexham and close the gap on League One leaders Birmingham to two points... only for Charlton to snatch a dramatic point with a Matty Godden penalty after a handball in the box well after the signalled five added minutes were up.

Conor Coventry's own-goal from a Tom O'Connor free-kick had set the visitors on their way but Macauley Gillesphey headed his first Addicks goal before the break to set up this fantastic finale.

What a game. Gary Neville in the stands must have loved every minute of that.

That goal has seen Wrexham slip behind Wycombe and down to third while the Addicks are down to 11th.

The goals in quick succession cost them, in a 10-minute spell. Bradford City couldn't sustain the level of performance they had in the first half.

And then in the second half what you found was that Doncaster hit them with two counter attacks and two goals and from that moment Bradford were chasing the game.

It was just a long ball up field for the first one, but a well taken composed goal for Doncaster. I think Bradford City left themselves with a bit of work to do when it came to defending the box.

This team is learning as they go through these games, they are showing resilience and fight. But you can't give teams like Doncaster two goal leads and expect to come out the game with something.

Referee Alan Dale has spotted a handball in the box after the hosts launch a free-kick into the area with their last roll of the dice.

Charlton's Danny Hylton has his name taken on his debut for a foul on Max Cleworth.

Oh that was a very, very good game of League Two football - in fact I might be underselling it, yes it was that good.

Okay Bradford fans looking at the scoreline might not agree but the Bantams more than played their part - they've just been beaten by a better side on the day although they almost salvaged something in the closing few minutes.

Doncaster deservedly led through Luke Molyneux and Billy Sharp and we almost had to take off our shoes and socks to keep count of the number of chances they wasted either side of the goals.

Graham Alexander threw on all five of his substitutes to try to turn it around and it almost worked as one of them, Lewis Richards, crossed for Andy Cook to head home.

Bradford then had a goal disallowed and saw Neill Byrne denied by Ted Sharman-Lowe deep into injury time.

Bradford might wonder if it had been different had one of Cook's early second-half headers gone in but they were also thankful to Byrne for a goalline clearance and goalkeeper Sam Walker for some good saves.

These two will surely be right up there at the end of the season.

You almost need a lay down in a darkened room after all that.

A goal either side of the half-time whistle sees Huddersfield break down Exeter's solid defence to take all three points.

The Grecians came out in the second-half looking brighter than they were in the first but after Town keeper Jacob Chapman denied a sharp header from Josh Magennis, it was all a rather muted performance.

Huddersfield took the game out from under the Grecians feet with a stunning goal from distance from Ben Wiles and put a premature end to the contest in the 63rd minute.

It was pretty much a smooth sail towards the finish line for Huddersfield Town and a day for Exeter to forget.
