There were plenty of positives to take from this performance against Denmark, and even more talking points, not least Jess Fishlock's first-half goal that never was.

So Wales will wrap up their campaign against Italy in Swansea on Tuesday, in what is now their final preparation for the Euros.

Wales manager Rhian Wilkinson told BBC Sport Wales: "For the Euros, this is critical.

"This opportunity for these women to pit themselves against top nations, to see how close the margins are now, is really important.

"I'm obviously disappointed with relegation but I'm proud that we've gone for everything. I'm proud of the entire team.

"We've used all our substitutes to make sure that roster of 23 is ready to go at any moment."

Sophie Ingle is such an experienced player and someone that the rest of the squad respects and looks up to.

She'll be there no matter what, even if it's just to be a calming influence in the dressing room.

You will not stop her being there in some capacity.

Rhian Wilkinson is very honest, it's what I like about her. She's realistic.

The future is bright, we're making big steps.

We're not quite there yet, but it'll come. We're a small nation with a big heart.

I really like that interview from Rhian Wilkinson, she took any excuse away.

Yes it probably was a goal, but that's not why they lost. She wants them to be better, she is driving the standards. At some point they are going to beat that top 20 nation.

When that is we're not quite sure, they're getting closer, just not close enough.

"But equally, within a year, what this team has done, the steps they've taken forward, the fact that teams like Denmark are on the back foot, living in their half and we're absolutely going for them, is a testament to this team.

"I'm frustrated. I don't think we had our best game but, even on our bad nights now, we're living with some top nations.

"Yes it could have been a goal, but equally they had some chances but League A is not finished.

"We've got one more game and, if I know anything about my team, they show up and play their best every time we have an opportunity to deliver a top Wales performance."

Unfortunately, you can normally see, I think the way she landed, there was barely any .

It was the same as Sophie Ingle.

It's the same type of situation, and naturally we'll think that it's the same injury.

If it is, the girls will be so disappointed. We all feel for her.

Everyone feels that the squad is competitive.

Rhian Wilkinson is giving chances to every single individual to contribute, and that's important.

Ffion Morgan and Hannah Cain have the speed, they're very different players to Elise Hughes.

Jess Fishlock lasting an hour, that's a massive positive for me.

We'll see if she gets a rest against Italy (on Tuesday in Swansea). The crowd won't want that to happen!

We have to be realistic now though and look at the bigger picture and protect the players we have going to the Euros.

They deserve a result. Wales have had two heroic results against Sweden, and that's brilliant.

I have to say, Denmark struggled from at least 40 minutes. We were on the front foot, but it was just the final ball and final .

They're small things, but at this level, that's the difference.

One of the snappers at the game managed to capture the moment in the first half where Jess Fishlock's shot was cleared off the line, adding to our earlier video clips.

You can see Wales' Elise Hughes following the ball in as Denmark's Stine Ballisager slides to the rescue.

Was it a goal or not? The result says Denmark are 1-0 winners and Wales are relegated from League A.

Such fine margins, but questions will be asked why the available technology wasn't in use.

Straight away after the goal, they (Denmark) weren't interested in scoring a second one, they were happy to defend.

Again it's the same old story, we've lost by a narrow one goal - we can't keep saying the same thing after every single game.

It needs to be better in time for that, we can't be happy again after a narrow loss.

It does matter, and it will matter to these players.

They think they deserve to be in League A, the narrow losses, losing by one goal it just shows where Wales have come and the growth.

It will be very disappointing for them.
