A suspected unexploded ordnance found on a high street in Devon has been safely removed, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said it was found in a property on Sidmouth High Street on Monday at about 15:35 GMT.

Officers put up a 100m (328ft) cordon around the area.

The force said the Explosive Ordnance Disposal removed the item, with the cordon lifted at about 18:00 GMT.
